Our company has been active on the building technology sector for over 18 years. From the very beginning in 1990 we have been producing components for the KNX (formerly known as EIB) intelligent system for smart buildings. KNX can combine various requirements such as lighting, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, blinds control, security, audio/video. All devices are linked in this system which complies to EN 50090 and IEC 14543. Energy efficiency can easily be achieved by switching off or dimming the lights at programmed times (breaks, weekends, end of working day…) or according to the room or outside brightness. Reduction of temperature in rooms not in use is controlled by motion detectors. Time dependent control is possible too or a coupling with the blind/shutter control. Automatic and interconnectable building functions enable a reduction in energy consumption. Metering allows to take energy only when rates are favourable. We are working together with experienced system integrators world-wide.

The Offices fort he Federal Environmental Agency present a case study for sustainable building. Active and passive strategies for the reduction of energy consumption and carbon dioxide production are realised in an architecture that combines spatial and material economy with a deliberate stimulation of the senses. The new building combines a compact volume and a high degree of thermal insulation with strategies of intelligent engineering and the use of renewable energy source. In particular, it benefits from the use of a large geothermal heat exchange system and solar panels. Building materials were chosen according to their ecological suitability, the most visible element being a panel front made entirely of timber, which is prototypical for Germany.
Bundespräsidialamt, Berlin
Equipped with the JUNG switch program LS 990 Architect: Gruber+Kleine Kraneburg, Frankfurt When it comes to heat insulation and economical use of energy, the newly-built office of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany is the best performer among the official buildings in Germany’s capital city. The insulation of the building next to Bellevue Castle is so good that the requirements of the German Energy Saving Regulation are exceeded by 75 percent. Thus states the Construction Department’s overview of efficient energy use in houses. On the roof of the German President’s office, a 900 square metre photovoltaic system converts sunlight into electricity. Warmth is provided by environmentally friendly district heating. Furthermore, the building gets by without air conditioning. The offices are ventilated naturally using the windows.
