Fraunhofer IWES in Kassel carries our specialist research in the areas of energy management and energy system technology, finding solutions for economic and technical problems relating to the energy transition. Laboratories and development support as well as prognosis systems and studies are available to companies in the sectors of power supply, wind energy, photovoltaics, bioenergy, investment, grid operation, power electronics and energy informatics. We offer practical and up-to-date knowledge in the form of educational one-day seminars, week-long seminars and master courses for professional and managerial staff as well as for decision makers from business and administration on both the national and international level. The transformation of the energy system confronts decision makers from business and administration with new challenges. Projects regarding the use of wind, solar, and bio energy must be approved and developed before they can be implemented. Various factors of influence must be taken into account here: fluctuations in the generation of wind and solar energy, reliable forecasts, predictable site assessment, new communication systems for virtual power plants, expansion of power distribution networks, and guarantee of grid stability as well as the joint examination of electricity and warming systems. For the implementation of these individual projects, a qualified and professional managerial staff is indispensable. With more than 25 years of experience working in research and development, our institute has established itself as a nationally and internationally recognized research partner in the area of energy system technology for the use of renewable energies and for the design of energy turnaround.
