The Oxford Gardens is a newly renovated retirement center in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada. The 9.900 square meter residential complex dispose over a 100 apartements and it currently accomodates 112 seniors.
Because of the constantly increase of the cost of the energy, the retirement center researched for alternatives sources of energy.

System information:
The Solar collector field for process heating is broken into 12 collector fields, each field contains 70 direct flow high performance vacuum tubes. The collector area of the field is 137 m² (1,475 ft²). Two 5000 liter (1320 gal.) buffer tanks were implemented in order to deliver the different temperature demands for the painting and drying process.
The buffer tanks are assisted by the existing oil furnace which was previously used to heat the building.
The top of the buffer tank features an air to water heat transmitter, which provides the required 70°C (158F) for forced air which is used in the drying chamber of the painting facility. The painting room process is the same way with an air-water heat Exchanger supplied from the colder buffer tank.
