Wolf GmbH is a leading supplier of air-conditioning and heating technology. The company’s rapid progress to the forefront of Europe’s building services industry started in the air-conditioning and air-handling sectors. Wolf products are installed in opera houses, airports and office complexes. Entry into the heating-technology sector in the early 1980s was a milestone in the company’s success story. Environmentally friendly and efficient heating units from Wolf quickly established themselves as quality brand products. As a systems supplier Wolf combines the five sectors of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, solar and combined heat and power plants, establishing itself firmly as the competence brand for energy saving systems. Wolf concentrates all its capabilities at its single production facility, which is sited in Mainburg, Bavaria. Wolf competence in engineering, service and know-how is supported by world-wide references.

Mainz made history last year as the location of the new head office of Werner & Mertz GmbH (manufacturer of the famous cleaning brands "Frosch" and "Erdal"), which was awarded the highest LEED system certification, "Platinum", at a ceremony on 27 September. Thanks to state of the art building services, this office building measuring around 6000 square metres actually generates more energy than it consumes. Among the components selected by the design engineers and architects were Wolf products "Made in Germany". The two Wolf air handling units, KG Top 320 and 96, were highly instrumental in turning the offices into an "energy-plus building". The complete air handling system installed on the roof (including the KGX-D cyclic flow plate heat exchanger heat recovery system) with nominal supply air rating of 22,000 m3/h provides all areas of the building with 0.7 to 1.2 x outdoor air changes (around 30 m3/h outdoor air per person), depending on the cooling load. The supply air is introduced into the interior via slotted vents in the ceiling. In warmer seasons, the air handling system provides night cool-down using cold outdoor air. Germany currently has very few buildings with LEED certification, and Wolf technology has been integrated in the second of these, the new Werner & Mertz GmbH head office in Mainz.
