häwa cooling system HK71
Everybody knows it – everybody feels it: The worldwide use of energy is on the rise and with it, the cost for operating data centers. In recent years the thermal stress in data centers as well as single server racks has increased disproportionately. The classic targeted areal approach isnt enough anymore. Häwa did recognize this very early and started developing energy efficient rack- and cooling solutions, with special focus on the modular cooling system HK71, a modern 19” rack-mounted cooling system for heat load removal from enclosed server racks. More compact IT-components with higher heat densities cause premature failure of the equipment. Server racks are getting deeper and thinner, which increases the number of servers per rack. This leads to rising heat loads. The temperature in the front of such a rack can easily differ by 10?C from bottom to top. The impact is unexpected and the cause often not recognized by the customer. A smart solution is the utilization of häwas HK71 19” cooling system for enclosed server racks. Costs are held to a minimum, as the investment is limited to the amount “no more than needed”. The closed loop cooling system comes complete with operating and control elements. The cooling power modulates dynamically with the real-time thermal load. The routing of air flow is in conjunction with the rack cooling. Warm air is sucked in at the rear of the HK71. After the heat is removed in the high-efficiency heat exchanger, cool air is dispensed to the front of the 19” level. The temperature can be monitored on each rack level individually, which allows identification of hot-spots in real-time while counteractive measures are initiated immediately. The HK71 units actively react to every temperature change in the cabinet. This provides for well-directed and even localized cooling of hot spots instead of cooling down an entire room. In combination with the häwa IP55-rack, “hot spots” in data centers, like tightly packed heavy-duty servers, can be cooled precisely and without wasting any energy. The required energy demand is reduced to the absolute minimum, while the investment cost is straight forward and manageable. The internal rack cooling of the HK71 is redundant. Effective, remote-controlled control units for power- and security-management offer a system, that provides room for equipment of up to 42 HU with a very small footprint. Localized hot spots from 0.5 to 7kW are dealt with with the “cooling-on-demand” principle – independently of the external temperature. In addition häwa, together with our highly specialized partners, offer all related services and support. Features: - Extra-secure: Redundant fans, refrigerant feeding an power supply - Easy to retrofit - Flexible: Easy to adapt to future requirements - Compatible: to most plant air conditioning system - Profitable: Up to 50% energy savings for air conditioning
filter-less air conditioning units KF2600
A good source of information to compare the efficiency of air conditioning units is the refrigeration factor. This factor describes the actual cooling power in relation to the employed electrical power. It is important that during operation this factor remains constant for a long time. In the end, what counts for the user is the overall energy consumption in kWh. In relation to maintenance, efficiency relates to long maintenance intervals, easy, quick servicing, and no additional effort, like e.g. the changing of condensate reservoirs. As control equipment is more and more integrated at the point-of-use inside the production facilities, the requirements for air conditioning units are on the rise. Air conditions in most production halls are everything but ideal for air conditioners. Oil vapors and dust particles inside the air quickly clog up conventional filters, diminishing performance and requiring frequent replacement. Häwa filter-less air conditioning units to the contrary, utilize a principle that most people know from their automobile air conditioners. There as well, no filters are used. Instead the design of the cooling unit is such that even dirty air will not obstruct the air flow and the cooling efficiency remains constant. Häwa has adapted this principle and was able to transfer it to their cooling units. A complete redesign with different dimensioning of the condenser was required. At first glance you notice the larger than normal distance between the cooling fins and the missing of the mounts for the filter pads. But also the “Big Mouth Principle” has proven immensely successful. The air grilles as well as the metal openings accumulate significant less dirt. The air flow is not impaired! Simple and convenient maintenance is part of the design of the häwa units. The condensers of the filter-less systems can be cleaned easily and without disassembly. The filter-less häwa systems require cleaning only after about 4-5 year. But even with significant contamination the air flow through the unit is still assured, and tests have shown that the dirt level will not significantly increase over and above this stage. Current measurement on conventional units has shown that current draw will increase with rising contamination and clogging of filter pads. The häwa units, constructed per the principle of the automobile air conditioning systems, have the advantage that the air flow is not obstructed and thus the energy efficiency remains constant. The energy efficient design of the häwa air conditioners also shows in the high refrigeration factors (up to 2.4) and the design of the integrated condensate evaporation system. Häwas system utilizes waste heat of the process, which saves about 1300 kWh per year by eliminating a 150W electrical heater. The efficiency of the system is not determined by any single measure, but by the balanced concept of the design. The correct sizing of the cooling circuit and the utilization of top-quality components guarantee higher energy efficiency, longer maintenance intervals and ultimately a longer economic life-time of the product.
